Overview
AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking a PA to provide comprehensive care, support and education to patients and their families through all aspects of their colorectal medical and surgical care process. The PA will participate as a key member of the colorectal team to identify and meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient. We are looking for someone who utilizes a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to the patient/family's care, serving as an expert practitioner, educator, consultant, and researcher in the inpatient, operative, and outpatient settings. They will also be expected to maintain responsibility for job performance specifications and assume personal accountability for departmental mission, organizational mission, and the core values of AdventHealth.

Job Requirements
- Performs clinical examinations as necessary for outpatients/inpatients. This includes seeing new, consults, and established patients with benign anorectal complaints and colorectal malignancies. Orders and interprets test results
- Performs infrared coagulation therapy, anorectal manometry and ultrasound, wound care, and ostomy care in the inpatient and ambulatory setting.
- Functions as a resource person for individuals with questions regarding their diagnosis or treatment and coordinates the multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Identifies/provides education to patients/families (individuals/groups) about current and potential health problems, the treatment plan, self-care, and prevention to achieve independence and maximum wellness.
- Writes orders and prescriptions, and referrals to specialists as indicated by patient situation.
- Manages discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow-up planning, adjunctive therapy management and education.
- Functions as 1st or 2nd assistant in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.
- Assists with intraoperative colonoscopies, and Rounds on Inpatients
- Works in collaboration with other APPs and physicians using established and approved protocols as required by policy.
- Facilitation of patients' disposition regarding admission, discharge, and scheduling.
- Documents ongoing status, interventions, communications, patient response and outcomes in accurate, timely manner.
- Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, workload and staffing through priority setting, use of sound critical thinking, and flexibility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master's degree (Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program)
- 1-2 years of surgical experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Certification by N.C.C.P.A.
- Active physician assistant license by the state of Colorado
- BLS
